In June 2019, I was delighted to be one of the 19 nominees who received the Pride in Hyde award. This award, now in its third year, celebrates individuals or groups who make a significant difference in the greater Hyde and Tameside area. The presentation was a public event held at POP, free for all to attend, making it a truly community-centred celebration.

A Special Nomination

I was nominated for the Pride in Hyde award by Cllr. Shibley Alam, who recognised my contributions to the arts and the local community through Ri Ri’s Dance Academy. His kind words highlighted the impact of my work:

“I nominated Ria for a ‘Pride in Hyde’ award 2019, as I wanted her achievements to be recognised by the local community. Her contribution to the arts, community of Hyde and Tameside, as well as her incredible dance and business achievements for Ri Ri’s Dance Academy are amazing. She has taken her business from dance to theatre, including mesmerising new technology. I have worked with her on numerous occasions, as well as watching the ‘Thunderstruck’ theatre production and I have found her to be very creative, friendly and helpful. Wishing Ria all the very best for the future.” – Cllr. Shibley Alam

Community Recognition

The Pride in Hyde Awards are a testament to the vibrant and supportive community we have in Hyde and Tameside. Being recognised among such inspiring individuals and groups is a humbling experience. It motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of dance and theatre, integrating new technologies, and contributing to our community’s cultural richness.

Media Coverage

The event was well-covered in the local media, with a great article featured in the Hyde Correspondent. This coverage helps to highlight the importance of community recognition and the diverse talents within our area.

Receiving the Pride in Hyde award is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective efforts of everyone involved with Ri Ri’s Dance Academy. It inspires me to continue our mission of promoting the arts and enriching the cultural fabric of our community.

Lots of love,
