Dr Ria Meera Munshi’s work as a dancer, choreographer and movement director is nothing short of extraordinary. Having danced and performed since the tender age of three, she has dedicated her life to the art of movement. By the age of 13, she was already choreographing, showcasing her innate talent and passion. As the visionary artistic director of Manchester based Bollywood Guinness World Record breaking Ri Ri’s Dance Academy, she leads with unparalleled innovation and enthusiasm, inspiring her students to explore the limitless possibilities of dance. Teaching since she was 18, Dr Ria brings a wealth of experience to her craft. She specialises in Indian dance choreography, mastering styles such as Bharatanatyam and Bollywood dance, Bhangra, Raas, and Garba. She made her debut as a Navratri dancer on television in India in October 2023, further solidifying her standing as a leading figure in the dance world.
Her expertise spans both screen and stage, crafting mesmerizing performances that seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary dance forms. Notably, her choreography for the hit TV show Hollyoaks garnered rave reviews for its groundbreaking fusion of styles. Additionally, her work on the acclaimed theatre production Thunderstruck captivated audiences with its breathtaking storytelling enhanced by spectacular 3D video mapping technology. She has, also, choreographed for the Royal Court, London, Claybody Theatre as well as The Real Housewives of Cheshire, Channel 4’s Come Dine with Me and BBC3’s Bollywood Carmen.
Dr Ria’s remarkable achievements include holding a Bollywood Guinness World Record, a testament to her exceptional talent. Her collaborations with prestigious organisations such as Manchester City Football Club (MCFC), Booking.com, and the Indo-Latvian Chamber of Commerce, along with her contributions to community groups and educational establishments, highlight her global influence and versatility.
Dr Ria’s unique approach to dance performance, choreography and movement direction has solidified her status as an internationally recognised screen and stage choreographer.
Television Actor, Presenter, and Host
Dr Ria Meera Munshi’s dynamic presence as a television actor, presenter, and host captivates audiences around the world. Her portrayal of Dr Chatterjee in the beloved show Coronation Street showcased her exceptional acting prowess and ability to bring depth and authenticity to her character. Other screen roles include the lead actor and dancer in the British Airways India commercial, Bollywood Britain, further underscoring her versatility and ability to connect with diverse global audiences, as well as a two-year ident feature on Mecca Bingo sponsoring ITV’s Loose Women.
As a presenter, Dr Ria has hosted a variety of high-profile live events and shows, such as The Manchester Culture Awards, whilst presenting awards at the Create Student Awards for The University of Salford.
