I’m thrilled to introduce The Magic Stick, a delightful new children’s theatrical production that marks my debut as a solo playwright and concept creator. This enchanting show features a captivating light and sound display, complete with a talking tree, playful squirrels, and mesmerising magic tricks. Through these elements, we aim to weave themes of kindness, selflessness, and environmental awareness into a magical experience for young audiences.

The Magic Stick

The Big Imaginations Network provided seed funding to Ria Meera Munshi. The R&D, in 2024, was funded by the Arts Council and supported by Z-arts and Kala Sangam. The Magic Stick is a new concept for audiences aged 6-12.

Story Synopsis

The Magic Stick is gifted to eight-year-old Diya, who has the opportunity to physically view her kindness and karmic light through magical lights and sounds, reflected on her new friend… a Talking Karam Tree! A mission of kindness is upon her, in which she will travel in and around The Utsav (Kindness) Festival. Join us on this beautiful tale of exchanges…

Through Indian dance, music, and magic, Diya learns about the power of kindness, selflessness, and sacrifice, making us all question… How full is your karmic tank today?

Ri Ri’s Dance Academy

Ri Ri’s Dance Academy is celebrated for its prestigious Bollywood Guinness World Record and its unique performances that blend Indian cultural elements with a modern twist, reflecting contemporary British Asian culture. Founded in 2011, the academy is led by the esteemed Bollywood choreographer Dr Ria Meera Munshi FRSA, with former Bollywood film director Rushi Munshi as the Producer and Business Manager.

Since 2016, the academy has produced a variety of family-friendly theatre productions, each with distinctive themes, storylines, and techniques. For instance, “Sue & Sita” delved into themes of adoption and identity through kite festivals, puppetry, and shadow theatre, while “The Dancing Elephant” addressed environmental and animal cruelty issues using video games, sand art animation, and back projection.

5⭐Testimonial

“It’s such an ambitious company telling new stories that we’ve not heard before. Sometimes it can feel really hard to stay really ambitious in
this climate and in this economy, and it’s just been great with Ri Ri’s to see them really kind of push quality, push storytelling.”
