🍿 This evening, I had the incredible opportunity to attend my first ever film premiere! This was of the BAFTA-nominated film “Santosh”, for Manchester Film Festival with the screening at HOME and … It was simply INCREDIBLE! The film is set to release in UK cinemas on 21st March 2025.

My review of the film: “Santosh is an incredible and thought-provoking film that leaves a lasting impact. The lead actress is talented beyond words! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

The film, directed by the talented Sandhya Suri, is a gripping crime drama set in rural northern India. It follows the story of a newly widowed woman, Santosh, who inherits her late husband’s job as a police constable. The narrative delves into complex themes of caste, gender, and corruption, making it a powerful and engaging watch.

Of course, I had to take my lovely Mum as my plus one, and it was fabulous to catch up with my TV friends and colleagues too, including Ijaz Rana and Adam Hussain! 💚🩷🧡💙 The premiere was a star-studded event, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation, and the film did not disappoint.

The lead actress, Shahana Goswami, delivered a stellar performance that truly brought the character of Santosh to life. Her portrayal was both nuanced and powerful, capturing the struggles and resilience of a woman navigating a male-dominated world. The supporting cast, including Sunita Rajwar and Nawal Shukla, also gave remarkable performances that added depth to the story.
